Residence Hall Mail Services

Mail is picked up daily from the post office and delivered to the residence hall. Each residence hall community has its own satellite mailroom facility and personnel who process the incoming letter mail and packages in accordance to their procedures.

Packages received, which “do not” require a signature by the United States Postal Service, such as Express Mail and Delivery Confirmation, are held in the residence hall mail room until picked up by the addressee. Residence Hall occupants are encouraged to check with their assigned hall mail rooms for policies and procedures in regards to the processing of incoming mail. Mail pieces, which “do” require a signature by the addressee by the U.S.P.S., such as insured, registered, certified and signature confirmation, shall be routed to the UGA Post Office located in the Tate Center. Campus Mail will notify addressees when their package is received. A picture I.D. is required when picking up mail piece at Tate Center Post Office. The Tate Center Post Office is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. There is no window service on Saturday.

Best Mail Practices:

* Do not mail cash through the mail. Bulldog Bucks is the way to pay for goods and services both on & off campus. Visit the Bulldog Bucks website for further information: www.bulldogbucks.uga.edu

* When using UPS, Fed-Ex, or DHL, the sender “must” use actual street address of residence hall. The hall name will not suffice and the mail piece will be returned to the sender.

* When sending an important document or package to a student, send the item First Class with Certified Mail and Return Receipt. This will provide proof of when the important document or package was mailed to the student. It will also provide confirmation with a delivery signature of the person who received it.
