Managerial and Front Line Leadership Series

In an effort to enhance the management and leadership skills and abilities throughout the division, Finance and Administration offered a tailored version of the Front Line Leadership and Managerial Leadership courses currently taught at Training and Development to two groups of F&A employees. The courses, which spanned a year, began in fall 2005 and ended in fall 2006.

The Front Line series is designed for front line supervisors with less than five years of supervisory experience. The program is a great development opportunity for newer supervisors or those employees who would like to become supervisors in the near future. The Managerial Leadership series is designed for UGA managers (of people or resources) with at least five years of managerial experience. The Finance and Administration Managerial Leadership series consisted of 11 sessions – an introduction and 10 segments, including maintenance of a respectful workplace and a session on legal issues in the workplace; the Finance and Administration Front Line series consisted of 7 sessions – an introduction and 6 segments, including the respectful workplace and legal issues components.

Approximately 60 F&A employees took advantage of the leadership training. The work of Finance and Administration is becoming increasingly complex, and it is incumbent upon the division to prepare employees to function effectively in a changing environment. Successful participants in this program have enhanced their potential for future advancement and established connections with colleagues in their cohorts that span the boundaries of F&A divisions.
