|
 |
A
record crowd of nearly 90 staff members who have joined Finance
and Administration registered for the 2009 New to F&A
Day. The daylong orientation is organized by the Finance
and Administration Diversity Committee, which includes representatives
from every major division. Here, members Tomoho Kagata (Budgets),
Felicia Hubbard (Physical Plant), Chad Cheely (Environmental
Safety), Valarie Blyden (Senior Vice President’s Office)
and Craig Mathews (Controller’s Office) welcome guests.
Not shown: Gail Lopes (Human Resources), Juanita North (Parking
Services) and Clayton Wilcox (University Architects).

 |
The
day began with a tour of downtown, guided by civic leaders,
and a breakfast at Trump’s in downtown Athens.
|
 |
Following
breakfast, the participants were on the move again, enjoying
a walking tour of North Campus.
|
 |
Some
even got to ring the historic Chapel bell.
|
 |
At
11:00, Senior Vice President Tim Burgess spoke to the new
staff members about the scope of the division and challenges
and opportunities on the horizon.
|
 |
A
buffet lunch at the Sanford Stadium SkyClub was next on the
agenda.
|
Participants enjoyed the chance to meet and greet division heads like
Ryan Nesbit and a birds-eye view of the stadium from SkyClub level.
 |
Door
prizes are always a hit at the luncheon. Tuwaun Johnson won
a set of tickets to a Georgia Bulldog game in the fall!
|
 |
The
group was on the move again after lunch, heading to the Tate
Student Center for a behind-the-scenes “sneak peek” of
the new addition. The addition includes new restaurants, lots
of social gathering places and a multi-purpose room on the
fifth floor that will be flexible for meetings, ceremonies
and other special events.
|
 |
The
day concluded with a bus tour of campus and visit to the Campus
Services Fair.
