Financial Systems Planning

The university is in the process of developing a decision-making plan for the future systems that support UGA accounting, budgeting, and payroll/personnel processes. A critical step in this process is to determine the solution options that are viable for UGA. In October 2010 the Gartner Analysis of Kuali Foundation Administrative Systems found that open-source Kuali Financial System (KFS) is a viable option for higher education institutions. To determine if KFS is a viable option for UGA, the financial systems work group received approval in December 2010 to develop a KFS evaluation plan.

The financial system work group, comprised of Finance & Administration and EITS representatives, has put together a plan for documenting requirements needed in new financial systems and conducting an evaluation of the Kuali Financial System. The plan identifies the approach and scope of the evaluation, projected duration, and estimated resources to conduct the evaluation.
