Associate
Vice President for Human Resources
Tom Gausvik is responsible for all University personnel-related
programs including staff recruitment, classification, compensation,
insurance and other benefits, retirement plans and training
and development.
Gausvik formerly served as the chief human resource officer
at the University of Virginia, a position he held for 11
years. Prior to becoming chief human resource officer,
Gausvik held several other positions in the UVA human resources
department, including senior director of human resources
and director of employment services and human resources
management systems. He has also served as director of employment
services and director of classification and compensation.
Gausvik graduated from The Citadel with
a bachelor’s
degree in history and earned a master’s degree in
human resource development from The American University.
He serves on an editorial advisory board for the publisher
of the “Fair Labor Standards Handbook for States,
Local Governments and Schools” and is active in several
professional organizations.
