As research institutions address the nationwide trend of increased competition for sponsored research funding, they are also challenged with an evolving complexity of rules relating to research compliance and public expectations of transparency and accountability. Like other institutions, UGA has experienced an increase in such requirements. UGA faces a challenge in terms of facilitating and supporting research from an administrative perspective while maintaining a strong culture of compliance.

The Research Administration and Infrastructure Ad Hoc Committee was tasked by the Provost to make recommendations as to how UGA may foster a true and balanced culture of support for the University's growing research mission and for
